Colonie standoff ends peacefully

— A standoff that began Monday when police went to check the welfare of a homeowner on Rapple Drive ended peacefully early this morning with no arrests.

Lt. John Van Alstyne said police received a call from a relative at about 7:30 p.m. Monday asking to check the welfare of a resident at the home. Police surrounded the home late Monday and eventually spoke to the man inside.

There was no confrontation and the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation about 12:30 a.m.

Police are not identifying the man.
