— A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with two attempted arsons and several car fires in the city early this morning.

Police said the boy, who is not being identified because of his age, tried to set fires at 514 and 516 6th Ave., as well as vehicle fires in the immediate area. Police would not release his motive for setting the fires, than to say it was retaliatory.

The child lived in the area where the fires occurred, police said, and was charged as a juvenile with four counts of third-degree arson and one count of second-degree arson, all felonies. The boy was released into his mother's custody, police said.
