— A former computer programmer for the state Health Department will serve almost five years in federal prison after admitting he used state and personal computers to search the Internet for images of minors having sex.

According to federal prosecutors, Andrew Swartz, 38, of Clifton Park, has been sentenced to 58 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. He has also been ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors and is required to register as a sex offender.

Swartz pleaded guilty in March to possessing child pornography, admitting that more than 1,000 images depicting prepubescent minors having sex were recovered from two computers at his home.
