CHARLESTON — The owner of a pet business charged last month with two counts of selling a sick or diseased animal is again facing a similar charge.

Dake Fu, 27, of 121 Towback Road, Esperance, who is the proprietor of Happy Apple and Turqouise Island pet business, allegedly sold a Yorkshire terrier that was ill with coccidia, an intestinal disease, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. The puppy’s health was in jeopardy and needed extensive veterinarian care, sheriff’s deputies said. The sale reportedly occurred in May.

Fu has been charged with one count of selling or offering for sale a sick or diseased animal. He turned himself in today and was released on a ticket to appear in Charleston Town Court on July 24 at 7 p.m.

Fu was charged last month with two counts of selling or offering diseased animals after several people complained to authorities that they purchased animals from Fu that were sick and diseased and it cost them extensive fees to rehabilitate the animals.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday with his attorney to answer these charges.
