SCHENECTADY Police took a man into custody late Saturday who led them on a high-speed chase through the city and into Clifton Park.
According to scanner reports, the 31-year-old man fled in a 2004 red Nissan Maxima on Nott Street and Van Vranken Avenue, continuing onto Aqueduct Road and across the Rexford Bridge on Route 146 at about 7 p.m. He then continued across Riverview Road into Clifton Park.
He is wanted for questioning regarding a murder in Schenectady, according to police scanner reports.
Scanner transmission indicated that he may have been heading to his father’s home in Latham.
Officers reported losing sight of the vehicle near Route 146 and Interstate 87 in Clifton Park.
According to Schenectady police Lt. Brian Kilcullen, the man was later located by Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies at the Harbor House Fish Fry at 1742 Route 9 in Clifton Park. Kilcullen declined to release the man’s identity or confirm details of the scanner reports. He said it was not known Saturday what charges the man could face.
At least three police departments and a helicopter unit were involved in the chase.
