AMSTERDAM — A 33-year-old city man was charged over the weekend with felony assault and related charges in connection with an April incident in which a child’s leg was broken.

John W. Felong, of 265 W. Main St., was charged on Saturday with felony second-degree assault and third-degree assault. The identity of the child was not released.

Amsterdam police said they arrested Felong after receiving a compliant about him striking a young child. Felong was processed and sent to the Montgomery County jail where he remained Sunday without bail.
