I met Doug de Lisle in the fall of 1960, when we were both sophomores at Albany High School and appearing in Ayn Rand’s courtroom drama “The Night of January 16th.” He was 14; I had just turned 15. I fancied myself a budding actor, but watching Doug made me appreciate acting on a higher level. Yes, at 14. In terms of theatrical sensibilities, Doug was far ahead of any of us, and for the next 48 years, until his death on Feb. 1 of this year, he was often in the lead as actor, director, or theater reviewer in the Capital Region....
