— Authorities say an 83-year-old New Hampshire man is dead after his car crashed hours after he set out to visit a friend near his hometown.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says Richard Aulis of Lyme, N.H., was driving on Route 9N when his pickup truck went off the road and struck two trees Sunday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Aulis suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and had been reported missing by relatives after he failed to arrive at a friend’s home in Grantham in western New Hampshire earlier Sunday.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Roads were slippery with ice and snow at the time of the crash.
