— A 53-year-old soccer referee has been accused of attempting to induce a 14-year-old referee into a sex act, police said.

Thomas Gorsin of Clifton Park was arrested Tuesday at a McDonald’s restaurant, where police said he expected to meet the boy. Instead, police were there to meet him, according to papers filed in federal court.

Gorsin contacted the boy by e-mail in early July, saying he was a fellow referee, according to police. The e-mail went to an account controlled by the boy’s parents, however, police said, and the parents, concerned about its content, contacted police.

Undercover officers responded, police said, and Gorsin e-mailed repeatedly, often making sexual comments. Gorsin said he met the boy at the June North Colonie Empire Cup, prior to the beginning of the e-mails, police said.
