— Gloversville Police are investigating the possible murder of a 63-year-old man found about 5 a.m. on the Rail Trail, about 100 feet to the east of Foster Street in the northern part of the city.

Raymond Pike of Bleecker Street, Gloversville, was found dead on the bike path, police said.

Police Capt. James Lorenzoni said the body was found lying in the middle of the trail pavement on the bridge located there that crosses the Cayadutta Creek. He said the body had been there for at least two hours when discovered.

Police officials said they were still trying to determine just how the body was discovered.

Lorenzoni said as of late Friday morning there were no suspects or persons of interest.

Chief Edgar Beaudin said the cause of death will be revealed after an autopsy.

Pike was a level III sex offender convicted in 1990 in Johnstown on a charge of second-degree sodomy after contact with a 13-year-old boy.
