— Two people, including an Amsterdam City Court employee, were charged after police raided a Garden Street apartment Wednesday night.

City police Det. Lt. Thomas DiMezza said said about 15 members of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force, including city police, Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers from the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant about 9:30 p.m. on the downstairs apartment at 16 Garden St. to culminate a two-month investigation into the sales and distribution of drugs in that neighborhood.

DiMezza said police confiscated cocaine that had already been packaged for sale, along with drug paraphernalia and about $750 in cash. They also arrested Jose L. Leon, 21, a resident of the apartment, and Jessica Taber, 24, no address given, a temporary City Court employee who handled traffic tickets.

Leon was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, while Taber was charged with felony fourth-degree conspiracy. Taber was released on an appearance ticket, while Leon was being held without bail pending arraignment in City Court.
