Engagement: Ward and Merritt

Daniel and Sharon Lair and
Grant and Sandra Ward, all of
Rotterdam announce the engagement
of their daughter,
Trysha Ward to Brian Merritt,
son of Donald and Patricia
Merritt of Syracuse. Trysha is
the granddaughter of Wilma
Youker of Rotterdam.
The future bride is a graduate
of Schalmont High School
and Russell Sage College,
where she earned her bachelor’s
degree. She is an investigator
for NYS Commission on
Quality Care.
Her fi ance is a graduate of
Bishop Ludden High School,
Syracuse; received his bachelor’s
degree from Canisius College
and earned his MBA from
the College of Saint Rose. He is
a unit leader for Metropolitan
Life Insurance.

Alexandra Leigh Wachtel
and Darren James Deegan
were married September 3,
2010 at St. John the Evangelist
Church, Schenectady. Rev. Harold
Heinrich, great uncle of the
bride and Rev. Richard Carlino
offi ciated. A reception followed
at the Hall of Springs, Saratoga,
The bride is the daughter of
Richard and Martha Wachtel of
Niskayuna. The groom is the
son of Seamus Deegan and the
late Nina Deegan of Wading
River, NY.
Maid of honor was Sheridan
Wachtel, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Lorrianne
Adair, Lauren Singer, Trina
Romaine, Jessalyn House and
Alana Deegan.
Best man was Rory Deegan,
brother of the groom. Ushers
were Conor Deegan, Joseph
Sturiano, Justin DeMarco, Elias
Shamos and William Knightly.
Alexandra is a graduate of
Hartwick College. She is employed
by Donna Karan NY,
Boston, MA.
Darren is a graduate of Hartwick
College and earned his
master’s degree from Suffolk
University. He is employed by
Suffolk University in the crime
prevention unit in Boston.
The couple took a honeymoon
trip to the Island of Guadeloupe
in the Caribbean. They
reside in South Boston.

Engagement: Cervoni and Cartier

Louis and Susan Cervoni of
Rotterdam announce the engagement
of their daughter
Lisa Cervoni to Joseph Cartier,
son of Mark and Cheryl Cartier
of Schenectady.
The future bride is a graduate
of Schenectady County
Community College with an
associate degree in early childhood
education. She is owner/
operator of Learning Land
Family Day Care in Rotterdam.
Her fi ance is a CCTV technician
for the City of Schenectady
Sewer Department.

Anniversary: Stanek

Carl and Lucia Stanek of
Leesburg, Florida, formerly of
Windsor Terrace, Schenectady,
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in Aruba with dear
The Staneks met in Italy
while Carl was stationed in
the military, and they instantly
fell in love. They married on
March 18, 1961 in Vicenza, Italy,
and thereafter made their
home in Schenectady for the
next 45 years.
The couple have three
children, Michelle Stanek of
Schenectady, Nicole Young
of Leesburg, Fla., and Geoff
Stanek of Bradenton, FL.
They also have three grandchildren.
