Daniel and Rosemary Centi of Guilderland, NY are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Justin Centi, to Amanda Jayne Antczak, daughter of Richard and Shelia Antczak of Bayonne, NJ.
Justin is a graduate of Guilderland High School and received his B.S. degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and B.A. degree in Philosophy from the University of Rochester. He is currently working on his Ph.D in Neuropsychology at Boston University.
Amanda is a graduate of
Holy Family Academy in Bayonne and received her B.S. degree in Exercise Science and M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology from Ithaca College. She is currently employed as a physiological researcher at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, MA.
The couple are planning to wed in New Jersey in June 2010.
Patrick and Florence (Colorito) LaPorta of Schenectady recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner at Ron’s Landing in Hampton Beach, NH, hosted by their children and spouses.
The couple were married August 9, 1959 at St. Anthony’s Church, Schenectady.
Florence graduated from St. Johnsville High School in 1953 and Ellis School of Nursing in 1956. She is a semi-retired RN at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. She is a volunteer at Proctor’s Theater, a member of the Ellis RN Club and she enjoys reading.
Her husband is a 1954 graduate of Nott Terrace High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. He retired from G.E. with 32 years of service in 1995.
Their children are Patrick J. (Christine) LaPorta and Michele (Don) Freeman of Rotterdam. Their grandchildren are Katherine, Cara and John LaPorta of Niskayuna and Danielle and Jared Freeman of Rotterdam.
James and Mary Commarto of Skyline Drive, Delanson, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married in Gilboa, NY, at the Methodist Episcopal Church on August 14, 1949.
This year the celebration started with a blessing of the marriage at Zion Lutheran Church, Schenectady, and continued with a reception at Waters Edge Lighthouse Restaurant, Glenville.
Mary graduated from Gilboa High School, and James attended Schenectady schools. James entered the U.S. Army in 1944. After his term in the Army, he worked 15 years at General Electric. He retired from G.E. to run his own businesses; James’ TV & Appliances, James’ Moving, James’ Ringside Gym, and he also ran Commarto’s Sitting Bull Dude Ranch in Warrensburg, NY.
Mary and Jim have a daughter, Nancy Mienaltowski (Peter), and a son, Thomas. Their son, Samuel, predeceased them. They also have eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
