The future bride is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and Boston University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in international relations. She received her master’s degree in education from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA. She is dean of students at Salem Academy Charter School in Salem, MA.
Her fiance is a graduate of Swampscott High School, MA. He received his bachelor’s degree in geography from Salem State College, MA. He is City Planner for the City of Peabody, MA.
Brendan proposed at the Logan Airport in Boston. An October 2009 wedding is planned.
John and Judith Karbowski of Rotterdam announce the engagement of their son, John P. Karbowski III to Tami M. Keene, daughter of Benton and Michelle Keene of Attleboro, MA.
The future bride received her bachelor’s degree in English education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester and her master’s degree in literacy from Lesley University, Boston, MA. She is a high school English teacher at Fort Plain Central Schools.
Her fiance received his bachelor’s degree in history education from St. John Fisher College, Rochester and his master’s degree in literacy from the University at Albany. He is a high school social studies teacher at Northville Central Schools.

JoAnn and Dave Hagymas of Ballston Lake announce the engagement of their son, Kevin Joseph Koenig to Lindsay Marie Flower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Flower of Stafford, VA. Kevin is also the son of the late Edgar F. Koenig.
The future bride is a graduate of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in teaching.
Her fiance is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is an ensign in the U.S. Navy, currently in flight school in Pensacola, FL.

Linda Fenkel Sova and Robert Anthony Matarese have announced their engagement.
Linda graduated from Trenton State College, Trenton, NJ in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in special education for the deaf and The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY with a master’s degree in learning disabilities in 1992. She is a teacher at Fonda-Fultonville High School.
Bob graduated from Trenton State College in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He is president of MAS Finishing in Monroe, NC.
Linda and Bob dated in college from 1967-1968, then went their separate ways. On June 27, 2009, Linda found Bob’s business on the internet and emailed him, not knowing if he was the same man she dated 41 years ago. He was! They got engaged by August 10, 2009. He lives 16 miles from her older son. Bob’s father, their only living parent, carried Linda’s picture in his wallet for 41 years! He said, “This is the girl you should have married.”

Karla M. Schumaker and Sam Ravida were married April 25, 2009 at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Rev. George Brucker officiated. A reception followed at the Italian Community Center, Albany.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Margaret Schumaker of Schenectady. The groom is the son of Tina Ravida of Albany and the late Guiseppe Ravida.
Karla is a graduate of Siena College and earned her MBA from Rockefeller College. She is a state auditor for NYS Office State Comptroller, Albany.
Sam is a graduate of Bishop MaGinn High School. He is a court analyst for NYS Unified Courts, Cohoes.
The couple took a wedding trip to St. Lucia.
Robert and Rosemarie (Riggi) Carney of Schenectady recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows by Father Peter Pagones at St. Paul the Apostle Church. A dinner reception followed at Glen Sanders Mansion, hosted by their children. The couple were married September 11, 1959.
Rosemarie is employed by J.H. Burhmaster Energy Group. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Robert is retired from DePaolo & Son General Contracting. He works for WJV Mechanical to keep busy. He enjoys golf and spending time with family and friends.
Their children are Robert Jr. (Cheryl), Karen, and Randi (Ann Marie.) Their grandchildren are Patrick and Megan, son and daughter of Karen. Bob and Rose are expecting their third grandchild in February (Randi and Ann Marie).
They will celebrate their 50 years together with a Caribbean cruise with lifelong friends Bonnie and Frank DePalma of Rotterdam.
Edna and William McGill, Sr. of Schenectady recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a small dinner party at their residence, given by their family.
The couple were married July 30, 1949 at Second Reformed Church in Schenectady. Edna graduated from Nott Terrace High School and Albany Business College. She was an executive secretary at General Electric for 11 years. She enjoys reading, watching TV with her husband, chatting with friends and is an active member of Woodlawn Reformed Church.
William is a graduate of Scotia High School and the General Electric Apprentice Toolmaker Program. He was a tool maker at General Electric retiring in 1976 after 36 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He enjoys reading, watching TV with his wife, model trains and planes.
Their children are William (Amy) H. McGill Jr., of Pattersonville and Kathleen Maxim of Schenectady. They have one granddaughter, Heather DiOrio of Schenectady. Heather and husband, Max will be blessing the McGills’s with a great grandson expected to arrive January of 2010.
