Michelle Renee Delarm and Daniel Belachew Emaelaf have announced their engagement. Michelle is the daughter of Roy and Sandra Delarm of Scotia. Daniel is the son of Linda and Belachew Emaelaf of Schenectady. Michelle is the granddaughter of Arthur and Lena Iannuzzi and Dorothy Delarm.
The future bride is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she received her bachelor’s degree in management. She is an IT program manager at General Electric.
Her fiance is a graduate of Schenectady High School and R.P.I, where he received his bachelor’s degree in management. He is a quality engineer at General Electric.
An August 28, 2010 wedding is planned.
Rudy and Karen Nydegger of Glenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Liesl Ann Nydegger, to Omar Khalil Akari, son of Carol Akari of Amsterdam, NY and the late Khalil Akari.
The future bride is a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and Siena College, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She is currently pursuing her master’s/PhD degree in global health at Claremont Graduate University, CA. She is a research assistant in health projects concerning HIV in high risk populations.
Her fiance is a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston. He is assistant manager for Games Workshop, Arcadia, CA.
A destination wedding is planned in Lauguna Beach, CA in July 2010. The future bride’s grandparents, Donald and Marilyn Schneggenburger will be attending.
Ashley Marie Schaum and Dawson Grau were married October 3, 2009 at an outdoor, lakeside ceremony at Whiteface Club & Resort, Lake Placid, NY. Pastor Nathan Zehr officiated. A reception followed.
The bride is the daughter of Craig Wells, and Lynn Schaum, both of Columbia, SC. The groom is the son of Dr. Michael and Cynthia Grau of Niskayuna, NY.
Matron of honor was Nicole Morris. Bridesmaids were Kathleen Harr, Susie Mulligan and Courtney Ingle.
Best man was Darren Grau. Ushers were Danielle Korman, Jarod Green and Jimmy Murray.
Ashley is a graduate of Irmo High School, Columbia SC; received her BA from Coker College in Hartsville, SC and her master’s in public relations from Syracuse University. She works for Alliance Bank in marketing.
Her husband is a graduate of Niskayuna High School, received his BA in history from Furman University, Greenville, SC, and his master’s in documentary film and history from Syracuse University. He works freelance in the multi-media and film industry in Syracuse.
The couple took a wedding trip to Montreal and Lake Placid. They reside in Liverpool.
Sarah Ann Molik and Jonathan Joseph Vidulich were married May 30, 2009 at Snell’s Bush Church in Manheim, NY. Pastors William and Esther Emmons officiated. A reception followed at Beardslee Castle, Little Falls, NY.
The bride is the daughter of Dorothy and Bruce Aikman of Grand Island, NY and David and Patricia Molik of Ballston Spa. The groom is the son of Lorraine Vidulich of Johnstown and Anthony and Linda Vidulich of Fort Johnson.
The couple took a wedding trip to Rome, Italy.
Alison Rogers Bjerke and John Wolte Infong Lee were married Saturday, October 24 at Saint Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church in Isla Vista, Calif. The Rev. Dr. Robert Gregg, an Episcopal priest and professor emeritus of Religious Studies at Stanford University, officiated.
Ms. Bjerke, 29, graduated with distinction from Stanford University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is the daughter of David C. and Lisa R. Bjerke of Blaine County, Idaho, and a great-granddaughter of Nathaniel S. (Nat) Rogers, the Seattle business and civic leader.
Mr. Lee, 38, an associate professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializes in ancient Greek history and archaeology. He graduated from the University of Washington and earned his doctorate in History from Cornell University. The groom is a son of Samuel S.H. and Hawaii State Representative Marilyn B. Lee of Mililani, Hawaii. His mother was born and raised in Schenectady. His grandparents are the late Irene S. Wolte and Otto J. Wolte of Holland Road.
The couple met while surfing.
Joseph and Patricia Fall of Schenectady recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise dinner party with 100 guests, many from out of town and out of state. The party was hosted by their children and their families at the Turf Tavern, Scotia.
The couple were married April 11, 1959 at St. Mary’s Church, Schenectady.
Patricia is a 1955 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She is a 1957 graduate of Albany Business College. She is a retired administrative assistant for the Schenectady City School District, with 25 years of service. She enjoys knitting, reading, talk radio and is an avid Red Sox fan. She also enjoys time with her grandchildren and summers at the family camp in Massachusetts.
Her husband is a 1954 graduate of Nott Terrace High School and a 1963 graduate of SUNY Albany. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1960. He is a retired business education teacher, teaching at Linton/Schenectady High School for 36 years. He enjoys travel, cooking and computer work. He is an avid Red Sox fan, and also enjoys summers at the family camp.
Their children are Brian Fall (Carolyn Kolterman) of Schenectady, Kevin Fall (Lori) of Wilbraham, MA and Joseph P. Fall (Lisa) of Knoxville, TN. Their grandchildren are Megan and Matthew Fall of Wilbraham, MA; Christine Fall of Schenectady; Lucy and Luke Fall of Knoxville, TN and a great-grandson, Cyrell of Schenectady.
Michael and Melinda Green of Rotterdam recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas. The couple were married November 23, 1969 at the home of the bride’s parents. Melinda is the daughter of Eunice Greer of Niskayuna and the late Dr. Herbert Greer.
Melinda graduated from Niskayuna High School and Albany Business College. She retired from the USPS.
Her husband is a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and attended HVCC. He is retired from the SI Group. He is the son of the late Raymond and Pauline Green of Schenectady.
Their children are Jeffrey (Andrea) Green of Schenec-tady, Leah (Steven) Maynard of Rotterdam and Laurie (Mark) Makara of Pattersonville.
`They also have five grandchildren, Holden and Ian Maynard of Rotterdam and Sean, Joey and Heather Makara of Pattersonville.
