Leon and Peggy Brunez of Scotia announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Brunez, to Nicolaz Martinez, son of Joe and Christina Martinez of Lubbock, TX.
The future bride is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland and her master’s degree in literacy from the College of Saint Rose. She is a substitute teacher in Westchester County.
Her fiance is a graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX, and received his bachelor’s degree in human resource management from The New School of Management. He is employed by Entergy Nuclear Power Company in Indian Point. He served 9 years in the U.S. Navy.
A July 2009 wedding is planned.
Suzanne Gold and John Berhaupt are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Berhaupt, to Jesse Glickstein, son of Rabbi Gary and Joan Glickstein of Miami Beach, FL.
The future bride is a graduate of Schenectady High School and and the University at Albany, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She is currently pursuing her MS/RD in nutrition & dietetics at Florida International University.
Her fiance is a graduate of New College of Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He received his MA/NYC Teaching Fellowship at Pace University. He is executive director of non-profit Faiths United for Sustainable Energy (FUSE).
Danielle Oakley and Joseph Greklek were married August 8, 2008 on the Captain JP Cruise Ship in Troy, NY. Rev. Stephen Cordes officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Karen Oakley of Rotterdam. The groom is the son of William and Theresa Greklek, also of Rotterdam.
Maid of honor was Jennifer Saburro, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Whitney Francisco, Nicole Greklek, Suzanne Savage and Alicia Avery.
Best man was Anthony Savage, best friend of the groom. Ushers were Nicholas Pangburn, Michael Greklek, J. Mohr and Johnny Aini. Ringbearers were Joshua and Kyle Greklek.
The bride and groom are both graduates of Mohonasen High School. Danielle is a specialist at First Health, Albany. Joseph is a field engineer at Vitec Solutions, Albany.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to Orlando. FL. They reside in Rotterdam.
Dan and Maida (Mazzie) Briskie of Cresse Avenue in Niskayuna recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a week-long celebration at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. They experienced fabulous dinners, great shows, gambling and many laughs, while being in the presence of their family. The party was given by their children, Dan, Dave, Doug, Karen, Heather and grandchildren.
Dan and Maida were married August 25, 1958 at Saint John the Baptist Church. Maida graduated from Linton High School, enjoys cooking, the stock market, card games and the casino.
Her husband, Dan graduated from Nott Terrace High School. He served in the Coast Guard. He enjoys fishing and hunting, hiking and the outdoors. He currently works for American Electric Supply Co. Inc., where he has been employed over 50 years.
They have three sons, Dr. Dan Briskie of Grand Blanc, MI., David Briskie of Irving, TX and Doug Briskie of Agoura Hills, CA. The couple also have five grandchildren, Amy, Daniel, Ashley, Melisa, Danielle and one great-grandson, Austin.
Thomas and Marguerite O’Bryan of Fort Plain recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They renewed their wedding vows at St. James Church, Fort Plain with Rev. Peter Sullivan, celebrant. A party at Ripepi’s Restaurant in St. Johnsville was held after, hosted by their children
and attended by their grand-
family and friends.
The couple were married July 17, 1948 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Horseheads, NY.
The former Marguerite Loan graduated from Horseheads High School. She is retired from the New York Telephone Co.
Her husband is a graduate of Ithaca College. He also served in the Navy in WWII. He is retired as an internal auditor for Agway, Inc.
Their children are Kevin (Patricia) O’Bryan of Troy, Kristine (John Kirkpatrick) of Fort Plain, Thomas (Lisa) O’Bryan of Camillus, NY, Michael (Eileen) O’Bryan of Manlius, NY Daniel (Carol) O’Bryan of New Hartford, NY and Andrew (Lisa) O’Byran of Oriskany, NY. They also have 18 grandchildren.
Robert and Rosemary Stephens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2008 with family and friends. A Mass and renewal of wedding vows took place at Saint Pius X Church in Loudonville, followed by a dinner reception at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. The couple were married August 10, 1958 at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Albany.
Robert retired from Friehoffers Bakery in 2001 after a lifelong career in the baking industry. Rosemary (Schnurr) Stephens spent many happy years as a homemaker and dental assistant and joined her husband in retirement in 2001. They enjoy their home in Niskayuna and frequently entertain family and friends.
Robert and Rosemary have three children and five grandchildren. They recently revisited their honeymoon spot at Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT. They are avid Yankee fans and devote many hours to enjoying nature and “watching the grass grow!”
Stewart and Nadine Hettig of Wilkes-Barre, PA recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Amish Country in Pennsylvania.
The couple were married October 9, 1948 at Central Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The former Nadine Endler graduated from Meyers High School and Mercey Hospital Nursing Program. She is on the Sunnyview Auxiliary Board, a member of PEO and First United Methodist Church.
Her husband is a graduate of Hanover High School, and Bucknell Univeristy, with a BS in chemical engineering. He is a professional engineer. He served in the Army-Air Force from 1942ñ45. He enjoys golf, music and sailing.
Their children are Nadine Faye Johnson of Randolph, NJ and Rebecca Lynn Hettig of Earlysville, VA. Their grandchildren are Jeremy Johnson of Somerville, MA and Mark Johnson of Randolph, NJ.
Meredith Briana Jordan and Christopher William Brucker were married August 8, 2008 on the beach at Beach Cove Resort, N. Myrtle Beach, SC.
A reception followed at Barefoot Landing in N. Myrtle Beach, SC.
The bride is the daughter of Sydney Jordan of Greensboro, NC and Sandi and Roger Puckett, also of Greensboro, NC. The groom is the son of Mark and Joan Brucker of Rotterdam.
Maid of honor was Katherine DeLisle. Bridesmaids were Justine Devries, Melissa Potolsky, Elisa Conrad, Lauren Schweitzer and Sara Puckett.

The bride and groom are both attending Rochester Institute of Technology, with anticipated graduation in 2009. Meredith is a marketing representative for Sorenson Communications, Rochester. Her husband is a carpenter with National Technical Institute for the Deaf Theater in Rochester.
