Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Goodspeed of Glenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Goodspeed, to Diallo Carey, son of Mary Lou Carey of Schenectady, and William Jenkins of Nashville, TN.
The future bride is an alumna
of SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Utica/Rome. She is an accounting specialist with RF Peck.
Her fiance earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John Fisher. He is a co-manager for Price Chopper.
A May 2009 wedding at Hunter Mountain is planned.
Katrina Ann Thompson and Michael Christopher Naioti were married July 11, 2008. The wedding and reception were held at Riu Yucatan Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Basta of Palmyra, NJ. The groom is the son of John and Lynn Naioti of Glenville, NY.
Maids of honor were Lauren Basta and Morgan Basta, sisters of the bride. Best man was John Naioti III, brother of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Drexel University, PA, with a degree in international studies and modern languages. She is a project manager for Disc Makers in Pennsauken, NJ.
Her husband, Michael, is also a graduate of Drexel University with a degree in marketing/advertising and international business. He is an account executive for Marlin Leasing Corp., in Mount Laurel, NJ.
The couple took a wedding trip to Belize, Central America. They reside in Delran, NJ.
Margaret Anne Linnaea Johansson Ross and Joshua Michael Newville were married October 24, 2008 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The bride is the daughter of Donald A. Ross and Grace C.J. Ross of Adams Road in Schenectady. The groom is the son of Lynne Newville of Omaha, NE and the late Jerry Newville of Omaha, NE. Matron of honor was Catherine M. Wajda, sister of the bride. Maid of honor was Elizabeth C.J. Ross, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Amy Hyde and Kim Naci. Junior bridesmaids were Mary Grace Wajda and Elizabeth Sutej. Flowergirls were Helen and Caroline Wajda, and Maddie and Melissa Perszyk. Ushers were Anna Welch, Jennifer Harper, Valerie DeLoach and Brittany Whitley.
Best man was Nathan Newville, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were David Sagalyn, Jason Otto, and James R. Welch III. Ushers were David, Steven, and Dale Perszyk, and Phillip Wajda. Junior ushers were Jacob and Nicholas Perszyk, Nicholas Bruening and Peter Wajda. Ringbearer was Daniel Wajda.
The bride attended Niska-yuna High School from 1989-1991. She graduated from Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, CT in 1993. Margaret Anne earned her B.S. from NYU in 1997 and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2002. She is employed at the Corcoran Group’s Brooklyn Heights office in New York City as an associate broker.
Her husband is a graduate of Omaha North High School. Joshua earned a B.S. from the University of Kansas in 1998 and earned his law degree from NYU in 2001. He is an associate at Cahill, Gordon, & Reindel LLP in New York City.
They met at a karaoke bar in the East Village neighborhood of New York City in the spring of 2005 and in between rounds of beer and popcorn, exchanged book recommendations and phone numbers. Two years later they moved into the parlor floor of a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, along with their yellow lab mutt, Bailey. Over the next year they perfected the art of urban gardening and grilling in their back yard. In May 2008, Margaret Anne came home from dinner with a girlfriend on a regular Tuesday to six dozen roses in her dining room. Joshua proceeded to get down on one knee and ask her to be his wife, to which she responded, “Duh!”
Thomas and Stella Pugliese of Schenectady recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Stockade Inn, Schenectady, hosted by their children.
The couple were married October 11, 1958 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady.
The former Stella Taluto graduated from Mont Pleasant High School. She was employed by attorney’s offices and retired as secretary at St. Gabriel’s School of Religion, Schenectady.
Her husband is a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and the State University of New York Albany. He is retired from the Dept. of Army Federal Technician Program and the military, where he served as director of maintenance for the NY Army National Guard.
Their children are Philip and Robin Pugliese of Rexford; and Steve and Angela (Pugliese) Reynolds of Lincoln, RI. They also have two grandchildren, Gabriella and Nicholas.
