Jeffrey and Nancy Falace of Scotia, NY, announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Alayne Falace to Joshua Mark Silvis, son of Gerald and Deborah Silvis of New Bethlehem, PA.
The future bride graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and Allegheny College in Meadville, PA with a bachelor of arts degree in communication arts. She is currently employed as a marketing specialist with Wexford Health Services in Pittsburgh, PA.
Her fiance graduated from Redbank Valley High School and Allegheny College with a bachelor of science degree in geology. He is employed as a hydrogeologist by Consol Energy, Inc, in Pittsburgh, PA and is currently pursuing a master of science degree in hydrogeology and aqueous geochemistry.
A September 2009 wedding is planned.
Gregory F. and Maura E. Zannitto of Glenville, New York, announce the marriage of their son, Dr. Peter J. Zannitto, to Miss Lisa M. Fair, daughter of Lester and Nelda Fair of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The couple were married at Four Seasons Grand Wailea Maui, Hawaii on March 1, 2008.
Peter is a 1996 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and received a B.S. in physics from Union College in 2000 with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He received his Ph.D and Sc.M in physics form Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 2005 and is employed by Royal Dutch Shell International Exploration & Production, Inc. in Houston, TX as a senior reservoir engineer.
Lisa is a 2001 graduate of Jenks High School in Tulsa and received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Tulsa in 2005. The bride is employed as a sales associate for American Petroleum Insitute (API) in Houston. The couple resides in Houston.
A November 2008 wedding is planned in New York.
Anne and Richard Oboyski, residents of Burnt Hills, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 28, 2008. High school sweethearts, Dick and Anne (Slyer) were married at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany on June 28, 1958. The couple renewed their vows with Father Michael Hogan in the Gazebo at the Edison Club, Rexford, NY. Their five children and spouses, twelve grandchildren, relatives and friends joined the celebration. Dick graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College and received both bachelors and masters degrees from the University at Albany. He retired after serving 28 years as director of student financial aid, most recently at SUNY Cobleskill.
Anne, a community health nurse, is a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College, SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, Syracuse University and the University at Albany. Anne is an Associate Professor Emerita in Nursing at SUNY Utica/Rome. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in history at the University at Albany.
The couple enjoys traveling, cruising and dinners with “the kids.”
Neale and Beverly Wilkins of Scotia recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner party at The Ripe Tomato, hosted by their children.
The couple married June 20, 1948 at First United Methodist Church, Schenectady.
Mrs. Wilkins is a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She became a volunteer for a recreational group of visually impaired adults 29 years ago and is still an active volunteer for the group.
Her husband is a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1989 as an electrician from the General Electric Co.
Their children are Kenneth (Karen) Wilkins of Scotia and Richard (Shirley) Wilkins of Ballston Spa, NY. They have two grandchildren, Kyle Wilkins and Aaron Wilkins, both of Scotia, NY.
Charles and Barbara Griesemer of Scotia recently celebrated thier 50th wedding anniversary. They took a New Year’s Eve cruise in January to the Western Caribbean and celebrated with a brunch in June at Glen Sanders Mansion. Both events were celebrated with family and friends.
The couple were married June 14, 1958 at St. Gabriel’s Church, Schenectady.
The former Barbara Foley graduated form Draper High School and Bryant College, RI. She is retired from South Colonie School District.
Her husband graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He is retired from the South Colonie School District.
Their children are Karen and Steve Crouch of Gloversville and Michael and April (Brickle) Griesemer, also of Gloversville. Their grandchildren are Alexandra, Stephen, and Cory Crouch of Gloversville and Gia and Stacia Griesemer and Adam Brickle, all of Gloversville.
Elaine and Dick Squillace of Schenectady recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by dinner at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia.
The couple met at Mont Pleasant High School and were married at St. Mary’s Chapel in Lynn, MA on June 21, 1958. Dick is a graduate of Mont Pleasant’s technical program, Union College and received his master’s degree at Northeastern University in Boston.
Elaine graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1954 and has been an active volunteer at Ellis Hospital for over 30 years.
The couple have four children, Dr. Steven Squillace of Somers, CT; Scott E. Squillace Esq. of Boston, MA; Dr. Marie R. Squillace of Arnold, MD and Dr. Linda Gilligan of Bedford, NH. They also have four beautiful grandchildren:, Kathryn, Sarah, Matthew and Abbey.
Dick served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and had careers as an engineer at GE; as a teacher in secondary education and at the Post Office.
The couple has enjoyed traveling in their retirement and recently returned from a Caribbean Cruise, where they celebrated their Golden Anniversary together. They plan to celebrate again in August with their family at their summer residence in southern Maine.
In addition to staying active volunteering at Ellis Hospital, the couple enjoys regular attendance at their Bible Study Group at St. John’s and ‘Koffee Klatch’ discussions at the Glenville Senior Center.
