Howard and Irene Gifford of Gansevoort, NY, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica M. Gifford to Nickolas M. Buttles, son of Richard Buttles of Corinth, NY and Sue Monica of Bradford, VT.
The future bride is a graduate of Schuylerville High School and Siena College, with a bachelor’s degree in finance. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business at Coastal Carolina University S.C. She is employed at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, as a mortgage consultant.
Her fiance is a graduate of Corinth High School and is currently attending Coastal Carolina University, working to obtain his bachelor’s degree in accounting, then continuing on to obtain his M.B.A. He is the owner of his own landscape business, “Big South Landsapes”, of Myrtle Beach.
A July 24, 2009 wedding is planned.
Laurie N. Cieslak and Anthony J. Peconie were married August 10, 2007 at Scotia United Methodist Church, Scotia. Rev. Jan Rowell and Rev. John Varno officiated.
Laurie is the daughter of Mark and Deborah Cieslak of Scotia. Anthony is the son of Anthony and Josephine Peconie of Schenectady.
Matron of honor was Karen DeSorbo. Bridesmaids were Christie Malone, Jessica Parker, Maria Zarro and Brianne Ripley. Flowergirl was Emily Malone.
Best man was Mark Peconie. Ushers were Keith Wharton, David DeSorbo, Randy Wharton, Eric Capron, Brian Cieslak and David Malone. Ringbearer was Kevin Malone.
The bride is a graduate of The College of St. Rose, where she received her bachelor and master degrees. She is a speech-language pathologist in the Schenectady City School District.
The groom is a graduate of SUNY Oswego and Sage Graduate School. He is a special education teacher at Scotia-Glenville High School.
Lt. CDR Laura H. Bollock and Dr. Edwin R. Micewski, Brig. Gen. Ret., were married July 1, 2007 in Bar Harbor, ME.
Laura is the daughter of Robert and Helene Bollock of Scotia. Edwin is the son of Gertrud Micewski and the late Roman Micewski of Linz, Austria.
The bride graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School, earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the United States Naval Academy and master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School. She is an Engineering Duty Officer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
The groom is a graduate of the Military Academy “Maria Theresia” and holds an M.A. in philosophy and political science and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Vienna, Austria.
They honeymooned in St. Lucia. They reside in Eliot, Maine.
Douglas R. Bollock and Heather E. Allard were married May 27, 2007 at the Aqua Turf Club, Plantsville, CT.
Douglas is the son of Robert and Helene Bollock of Scotia and Heather is the daughter of Robin Neron of Vernon, CT.
Bridal attendants were: Deborah Emanuele, Laura Bollock, Jennifer Duran, Nicole Graham, Sherry Neron, Danielle Risley, Nicole Standard and Anna Duran. The groom’s attendants were: Michael Ciniglia, Thomas Bollock, Richard Crisci, Joshua Gilbert, Paul Oberle, Brian Padworny, Drew Williams and Christopher Duran.
The bride received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She is a RN at Arlington Medical Center, Arlington, Texas.
The groom graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. He served in the US Navy as a submarine officer and is employed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Arlington, TX.
They took a honeymoon cruise to the Mexican Riviera and make their home in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Harold and Helen Joslin of Clifton Park recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. A celebration was hosted by their children at Lakeridge Restaurant.
The couple were married June 22, 1938 at St. Luke’s Church, Amsterdam. Flowergirl was Edith Joslin.
The former Helen Yates is a 1937 graduate of Wilbur Lynch School. She is a homemaker. She volunteers for local charities, tends the church garden and is a member of the Stillwater Blockhouse Committee.
Harold is a 1936 graduate of Perth School and Strayer College, Washington D.C., with a degree in acounting. He was a Special Agent for the FBI for 30 years and personnel director for the NYS Police for 12 years. He enjoys coin collecting and volunteers for local charities.
Their proud children are Charlotte Buckman of Westerlo (deceased)., Richard Joslin , No. Ft. Myers, FL., Roberta Riservato of Halfmoon., Douglas Joslin of Ballston Lake, Melissa Joslin-Harris of Castleton., Diane J. Gabriels of Ballston Lake and Alan Joslin of Ballston Lake. They also have 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
