Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yacaginsky of Lake Road, Galway, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Andrea Jane Yacaginsky, to Joshua Britt Biittig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Biittig of Stanton Road, Middle Grove, NY.
The future bride attended Galway High School and graduated from Binghamton University with a B.S. in environmental studies. She is employed by the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, Sanibel, FL.
Her fiance also attended Galway High School and graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He is employed by Bonita Springs Utilities, Bonita Springs, FL.
A July 4, 2008 wedding in Galway is planned.
Jodi L. Westcott and James E. Costello have announced their engagement. Jodi is the daughter of Skip and Gail Walker of Scotia. James is the son of the late Lorrie R. Costello of Cohoes.

Paul and Donna Batzinger of Ballston Lake, NY announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Batzinger to Nathan Jacobs, son of Matt and Miriam Jacobs of Oneida, NY.
The future bride is a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and SUNY Plattsburgh, where she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received her master’s degree in professional counseling from Argosy University, Arlington, VA. She is a teacher at Kindercare Learning Center.
Her fiance is a graduate of Oneida High School and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice form SUNY Plattsburgh. He received his master’s degree in criminal justice from George Washington University. He is currently employed by the Chandler, Arizona Police Department.

John Greer of Burnt Hills and Peggy Greer of Orlando, FL announce the engagement of their daughter, Maribeth R. Greer to Richard A. Matula, son of Donna A. Goetz of Greece, NY and James Goetz of Rochester, NY and Detour, MI. Maribeth is the granddaughter of William and Mary Greer of Schenectady and Harold and the late Virginia Shakeshaft of DeLand, FL.
The future bride is a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and is currently a junior at SUNY New Paltz in the School of Education.
Her fiance is a graduate of Greece Arcadia High School. He is an EMN3 in the US Navy aboard the USS George Washington, CVN-73, currently deployed to Japan.
The couple plan to wed in the Spring of 2010, once Maribeth completes her bachelor’s degree at which point she will move to Japan.
Walter and Sandra Lippmann of Rotterdam announce the engagement of their son, Walter Lippmann II to Jenny Moon, daughter of Carolyn Thompson of Morrisville and Scott Moon of Waterville.
The future bride is a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High School and Union College, where she received her bachelor’s degree.
Her fiance is a graduate of Mohonasen High School and Roger Williams University, where he received his bachelor’s degree. The couple are both project engineers for McDonald Engineering, P.C., Schenectady.

Francis (Bud) and Patricia Flint of Charlton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 17, 2008 with a dinner party at the Big Apple in Saratoga, hosted by their children and spouses. The former Patricia (Pat) Mullady and Francis (Bud) were married February 15, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church, Albany.
Mr. Flint is a graduate of the former Cathedral Academy, Albany and a Navy veteran, where he played on the Navy baseball team. A former carpenter and retired farriar from the Saratoga Harness Track, he was the proprietor of Bud’s Fish Fry in Galway, NY in the 80’s and 90’s. Bud enjoys raising chickens on his hobby farm.
His wife, a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute, Albany and Albany Conservatory of Musical Art holds a B.A and a M.A. from the College of Saint Rose. She is a former teacher of English. She is the organist at St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam and enjoys public piano performance with the Etude Club of Schenectady and tap dancing at the Shenendehowa Senior Citizen Center.
The couple also enjoys spending time with their nine children and families, including their 31 grandchildren, who all live locally.
Blase and Marie Mercoglan of Rotterdam recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated with a renewal of their vows at Epithany Cathedral in Venice, FL and a family gathering in late spring upon their return to Schenectady from their winter home in Sarasota, FL.
The couple were married April 6, 1958 at Our Lady of Assumption Church. The former Marie LaMalfa graduated from Draper High School and attended college. She retired as general manager of Mohawk Mall and was a NYS realtor. She enjoys golf, bridge, knitting and reading.
Her husband graduated from St Joseph Academy and Siena College. He served in the NYS Army National Guard. He retired as district manager for the Canteen Corp after 35 years of service. He enjoys golf and is past district governor of Rotary International with 25 years service.
Their children are Robert J. Mercoglan of North Port, FL and Barbara A. Hunter of Clifton Park. Their grandchildren are Bryan, Michael and David Hunter of Clifton Park and Holly and Rachael Mercoglan of Mariaville.
They recently returned from a trip to Tuscany, Italy with a group of Florida friends.
William and Marion Plaus (nee Joos) of Burnt Hills recently celebrated their 60th anniversary at Glen Sanders Mansion, Scotia. They were married on March 20, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Church in Schenectady. Father Jeremiah Morley officiated.
They are the parents of Dr. William J. Plaus (Maria Creavin) Denver, CO., Margaret L. Plaus (William Kirschner), Parker, CO., and Marianne Plaus of Broadlands, VA.
Their grandchildren are Alan, Joseph and Deirdre Plaus of Denver, CO and Mackenzie Kirschner of Parker, CO.
