James and Cheryl Hyland of Scotia announce the engagement of their son, Aaron Davies Hyland to Shelley Lynne Schlief, daughter of Paulette Fahnestock and Ron Schlief, both of Yakima, WA. Aaron is the grandson of Nancy Neison of Schenectady, NY. Aaron is the grandson of Ida Mae Allen of Richland, WA.
The future bride attended the University at Albany doctoral program in criminal justice and obtained her MA in forensic psychology from Castleton State College, Castleton, VT. She is a research assistant at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
Her fiance graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and attended SUNY Plattsburgh with a major in psychology. He is General Sales Manager for Clear Channel Communications, Inc.
A September 2008 wedding is planned in Carmel, CA.
David and June Schmidt of Clifton Park announce the engagement of their daughter, Renee Schmidt to James McMichael, son of Stephen and Lynn McMichael of Greenbelt, MD.
The future bride is a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Russell Sage College and Russell Sage Graduate School. She is an occupational therapist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C.
Her fiance is a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He is deputy sheriff with the Arlington County Sheriff’s Dept., in Arlington, VA.
A June 2008 wedding is planned.
Meghan Anne McNeil and David Charles Aabo were married May 12, 2007. The wedding and reception took place at Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, OR. Father Neil Moore officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Malcolm and Paula McNeil of Beaverton, OR. The groom is the son of Torben and Jean Aabo of Ballston Spa.
Maid of honor was Gretchen McNeil, the bride’s sister. Best man was Paul Schermerhorn, the groom’s childhood friend.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Willamette University, Salem, OR. She is a student at NYU.
Her husband is a 2000 graduate of Colorado State University and a 2006 graduate of the School of International Training, Brattleboro, VT. He is a consultant at Xola Consulting in NYC.
The couple took a wedding trip to Panama. They reside in New York.
Jennifer Marie Nafus and Marc Edward Flanagan were married Dec. 15, 2007 at St. Mary’s Church, Amsterdam. Rev. Brian List officiated. A reception was held at The Vista at Van Patten Golf Club, Clifton Park.
The bride is the daughter of Claudia Nafus, of Glenville. The groom is the son of Edward and Patricia Flanagan of Yorktown Heights.
Matron of honor was Jenna Nafus. Bridesmaids were Christina Capaldi, Jill Wiebke, Holly Flanagan, Julia Magandanz-Rodriguez, Colleen Dill and Heather Fariello.
Best man was Greg Flanagan. Ushers were Matthew Nafus, Fred Wiebke, Robert Doerr, John Guliante, Brian Rush and Christopher Rakus.
The bride is a graduate of Marist College, Poughkeepsie, with a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology. She is a scientist with Shaw Environmental, Latham.
Her husband is a graduate of the University at Albany, with a bachelor’s degree in geology. He is a project geologist with Shaw Environmental, Latham.
The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia. They reside in Scotia.
